Description

Thermodynamic steam traps, generically referred to as disc traps, utilize the energy in hot, flashing, condensate to snap the trap closed and prevent the loss of live steam.  With only one moving part, this type of trap is very rugged.  Water hammer resistant and able to withstand superheated steam service, these traps are commonly found on steam main drip and steam tracing applications.

Series WD600

Small, lightweight, compact, and virtually indestructible to water hammer and freezing, the Series WD600 was designed as an exact replacement in capacity and end-to-end dimensions for existing thermodynamic traps.  The all stainless steel, hardened, ground, and lapped seating surfaces result in efficient and dependable service that you can count on.

Series WD600

Capacities: to 4840 lbs/hr [2195 kg/hr]
Maximum operating pressure: 600 psig [41.4 bar]
Sizes: 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 1"
Connections: NPT
Material: Hardened 420 stainless steel
Weight: 3/4 to 3 lbs [0.3 to 1.4 kg]

The WD600L is a reduced capacity trap recommended for low condensate load applications.  Available in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.

Series WD600S

A sister to the WD600, the WD600S provides an integral strainer and is available with a blow down valve.  The all stainless steel, hardened, ground, and lapped seating surfaces result in efficient and dependable service that you can count on.

Series WD600SB shown (optional blowdown valve)

Capacities: to 3140 lbs/hr [1424 kg/hr]
Maximum operating pressure: 600 psig [41.4 bar]
Sizes: 1/2" and 3/4"
Connections: NPT
Material: Hardened 420 stainless steel
Weight: 1-1/2 to 2-3/4 lbs [0.7 to 1.2 kg]

The WD600LS(B) is a reduced capacity trap recommended for low condensate load applications.

Series WDU450

This Thermodynamic Trap Module mates to the industry standard universal connector.  Drastically reducing trap replacement time and cost, the Watson McDaniel Universal Connectors are available both with and without an integral strainer and blow down valve.  Due to their rugged construction, they will remain in line virtually indefinitely.  The trap is easily renewable by removing two bolts and either servicing or replacing the trap module.  This can be accomplished in minutes without disturbing any critical piping.  The universal connector is built to industry standards, and accepts many manufacturers steam traps.
